Flaws in their fight: EU’s struggle to tackle human rights breaches

The European Union is a frog, and it’s been getting concerningly comfortable with the rights-breaching hot water it sits in. That is, at least in the analogous words of Abir Al-Sahlani, a Member of European Parliament (MEP), active in the LIBE committee that deals with civil liberties, justice, and home affairs.

One response to “Flaws in their fight: EU’s struggle to tackle human rights breaches ”

  1. I agree that the EU needs to step up and make sure there are consequences when human rights are violated. However, we have to think further than just sanctioning the members. While sanctions might be necessary, we also have to take action to immediately protect those whose rights are being violated, for example by supporting people from Poland or Hungary to find work and accommodation in a different country of the EU.
