One-Armed Bandits: Pokies’ Grip on Melbourne’s West

Working with Coco Williams, Elisha Andres and Ollie Walker-Peel, I spent my final university semester investigating the chokehold gambling has on Melbourne’s western suburbs.

My experience and leadership proved useful in the editorial phase, but turning Anna Bardsley’s addiction and advocacy story into an engaging audio narrative was the key responsibility throughout.

That’s a very good article and the audio story Is indeed engaging, but it’s empathetic at the same time. having witnessed A family fall apart because of gambling addiction, I really hope that there will be done a lot more around the world to help people and also to remove the stigma. A lot of people think that because there is no substance from the outside involved you can just stop. But it has been proven that gambling has the same effect as cocaine on your brain.
